THE BIGGER PICTURE
Hernandez was tasked with dealing with Mbappe when Bayern Munich – his club at the time – met PSG in the Champions League quarter-finals in 2021. The defender didn't fare too well, with Mbappe scoring twice as the French side won the first leg in Munich 3-2. As a youngster at Atletico, he came up against Ronaldo in the Madrid derby.

WHAT HERNANDEZ SAID
Hernandez told Le Parisien: "If I have to bring out one, I would perhaps say Kylian. It’s never easy to defend against such fast players. When I was at Bayern, he hurt us in the Champions League in 2021. When I was at [Atletico] Madrid, I played derbies against Cristiano Ronaldo. What a player! He had everything."
