    The Ligue 1 title holders are at risk of missing out on a place in the last-16 of elite continental competition heading into the final round of group stage fixtures. There have been suggestions that a slip into the Europa League would lead Mbappe to push for a move elsewhere – as he is yet to trigger a contract extension beyond the summer of 2024.

    While there is a chance that Mbappe will agree to remain in the French capital, he is also aware that Real Madrid continue to monitor his situation. Signing another new contract in Paris would end the Blancos’ interest in securing his signature, with a big decision needing to be made on whether the 24-year-old wants to chase down more silverware in his homeland or down in Spain.
